Action to Save Protected Bats

We the undersigned petition the council to Create a Bat Protection Zone in Oxhey Village. Bats are Protected Species and need to be protected from over-development and destruction of their habitat & forraging areas. Although in theory protection exists, the law-enforcement agencies wil only act once a crime has been committed and this does not include feeding (forraging) areas amongst trees.

We want a protection zone using existing legislation for protected species to include the allotments and gardens at Oxhey Grange.
Bats & Slow Worms are resident in this area and in some surrounding properties and their habitat needs to be preserved.
Each bat plays an important role in our eco-system, consuming around 3,000 insects each every night.

Mr Waite presented the petition to Council on Wednesday 24 July 2013. Full details can be found in the minutes for this meeting - http://watford.moderngov.co.uk/ieListDocuments.aspx?CId=127&MId=1248

On reaching 30 signatures a full council debate will be held.
