12.

Terms of Reference

The Committee and Scrutiny Support Officer to update members on the  group’s terms of reference.

Minutes:

The Chair introduced the item and confirmed that members had received the proposed terms of reference for the task group.  He explained that these had been prepared to clarify the remit and working of the group.  He invited comments from members.

 

In response to questions from the group:

·        The Committee and Scrutiny Support Officer confirmed that the Chair of the task group would be a member of the Overview and Scrutiny Committee having been appointed by that Committee.

·        The Committee and Scrutiny Support Officer clarified that the task group could monitor, as appropriate, the implementation of recommendations made by the group to the Community Safety Partnership (CSP) and relevant responsible/cooperating authorities.

·        The Environmental Health Manager confirmed that CSP priorities and performance data would be available to the task group and explained how the annual strategic assessment and risk register informed the partnership plan.

 

Members commented that the proposed terms of reference were very comprehensive.

 

In response to a question from the Chair, the Committee and Scrutiny Support Officer advised that the Overview and Scrutiny Committee would give final approval to the terms of reference.

 

The Chair asked whether members were content with the terms of reference; and this was agreed by the group.

 

RESOLVED that –

 

the task group approved the proposed terms of reference.

 

 

13.

Exclusion of press and public

The Chair to move: that, under Section 100A(4) of the Local Government Act 1972, the public and press be excluded from the meeting for the following item of business as it is likely, in view of the nature of the business to be transacted or the nature of the proceedings, that if members of the public were present during consideration of the item there would be disclosure to them of exempt information as defined in Section 100(1) of the Act for the reasons stated below in terms of Schedule 12A.

 

NOTE: if approved, the Chair will ask members of the press and public to leave the meeting at this point.

RESOLVED –

Community Safety Partnership Risk Register

The Community Safety Coordinator to give a presentation to members on the community safety partnership’s risk register and how this will help inform the partnership priorities for 2017/18.

Minutes:

The panel received a presentation on the Community Safety Partnership Risk Register and how this would help inform the partnership priorities and action plans for 2017/18.

 

Members discussed the register, and officers responded to questions and comments.

 

 

RESOLVED –

 

·        that the presentation be noted.

 

·        that the CSP response to mental health, drugs misuse and hate crime be examined  by the task group at future meetings in the next municipal year.

 

·        that the actions requested be undertaken.
