Decision details
Personal IT equipment contract award
Decision Maker: Group Head of Transformation
Decision status: Recommendations Approved
Is Key decision?: No
Is subject to call in?: No
Purpose:
There are currently approximately 250 laptops
deployed across both councils. The current model is end of life and
in addition, is extremely cumbersome and not really practical for
an increasingly mobile/flexible workforce. Additionally there is no
method of managing application deployment and an immature approach
to the device builds. The ICT service struggles to provide a rapid
deployment service.
The objective is to move to a completely digital, paperless and
mobile (as much as possible) environment. This raises the potential
to approximately 600 laptops being required over the next 1-3
years.
This contract is needed to enable the purchase and deployment of
these devices. The strategic requirements of the contract
are:
• Consistent, supportable image across the estate
• Rapid deployment ability for services, where this is a
requirement
• Effective break/fix options and service
• Application packaging and deployment solution in place
• Consistent makes/models of kit across the estate
• Buy-back of existing kit
On 10 September 2018 Cabinet agreed:
That Cabinet delegate responsibility for the award of contracts for
the WAN, Unified Communications and Personal IT equipment to the
Head of Service Transformation in consultation with the Portfolio
Holder for Resources and Customer Service.
The Portfolio Holder for Resources and Customer Services has been
consulted on this decision.
Decision:
To award a call off contract for the
provision, support and maintenance of personal IT equipment to
Phoenix Software for an initial term of five years with option to
extend by a further two years for a maximum contract value of
£600,000.
